Mount Olive ranks No. 25 in ILWomen/IWLCA poll

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. (Mar. 13) – Following a fifth-consecutive nationally-ranked game, the Trojans ranked No. 25 in the latest Inside Lacrosse Women (ILWomen)/Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Top 25 poll.

The University of Mount Olive women's lacrosse team begins its title defense today, March 14, at Lees-McRae following a stretch of five-straight ranked non-conference games. Last Tuesday, the Trojans scored seven goals in the fourth quarter, but their comeback fell short in an 11-10 loss at No. 18 Embry-Riddle. Graduate student Ali Davis delivered another stellar performance with five goals and two assists against the Eagles. UMO currently holds a 25-game winning streak in conference matches.

Defending-National Champion UIndy (7-0) maintained the top position in the poll after receiving 16 of the possible 23 first-place votes. Florida Southern (7-0) remained slotted second this week and West Chester (4-0) continued to sit at the third spot. Tampa (6-1) placed fourth in the poll, while Le Moyne (4-0) rounded out the top five in the rankings.

The ILWomen/IWLCA Poll will be unveiled Mondays throughout the season. It is voted on jointly by coaches throughout the country and members of the media.

Mount Olive begins Conference Carolinas play today, Tuesday, March 14, versus Lees-McRae on the road at 2 p.m.
