WILSON, N.C. (Mar. 14) – Freshman Rasmus Ronnberg secured his second-straight top-10 finish after placing eighth overall, as the University of Mount Olive men's golf team finished fourth at the Barton Intercollegiate on Tuesday at the Wilson Country Club.

The Trojans posted a 40-over 904 (301-296-307) to place fourth in the field featuring five Conference Carolinas programs. The host Bulldogs cruised to the invitational title by 27 strokes after shooting a five-over 869 (285-284-300) and boasts the lowest score in all three rounds. The Barton B Team placed second in the 12-team field with a 32-over 896 (303-291-302) and Emmanuel finished third at 36-over 900 (292-299-309).

Ronnberg finished in a three-way tie for eighth overall at six-over 222 while playing at the two-day event. He shot a two-over 74 in the opening round before carding an even-par 72 during the second round. Ronnberg closed the competition with a four-over 76 to leap two positions on the final day. He tied for second in the field with 11 birdies while registering 29 pars over three rounds. Ronnberg tallied his third top-10 finish of the year and has been in the top-25 in five of six events.

Senior Cade Hancock tied for 16th place after shooting a 10-over 226 (75-77-74). He recorded six birdies, including three in the final round while producing 32 pars. He has finished in the top 20 in back-to-back competitions this spring. Freshman Max Lindblad tied for 22nd overall with a 12-over 228 (78-70-80) and tied for eighth among nearly 80 golfers with 35 pars. He was one of 11 players to card an eagle while in Wilson and shot three-under on the par 5s. Freshman Jonas Arnstrom Bakker and sophomore Justin Sterner finished tied for 32nd with a 16-over 232. Arnstrom tied for eighth among all golfers with 35 pars, while Sterner fired six birdies and 30 pars.

Junior David Hoermann played as an individual and tied for 22nd overall with a 12-over 228 (79-72-77). He led the team with seven birdies, including three over a four-hole stretch in the second round. Freshman Matthew Richardson finished in a tie for 37th place with a 19-over 235 (81-74-80) while competing as an individual.

Barton junior Harrison Wierse earned medalist honors by four strokes with a three-under 213 (70-69-74). He led the field with 12 birdies, including five in the second round.

The Trojans return to the course on March 27-28, when they host The Trojan in Goldsboro, North Carolina, at the Walnut Creek Country Club.
