VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (Feb. 10) – Senior
Joshua Faison claimed his third victory of the indoor season on Friday in the shot put on day one of competition at the Pre-National Meet.
Faison dominated the field in the shot put following a toss of 16.44 meters (53-11.25 feet) to secure the victory on Friday. It marks his third win of the 2022-23 indoor campaign in the event while he continues to hold the top distance in the Conference Carolinas. In his final preparation for the league championship, Faison will look to pull off the three-peat in late February.
In the long jump, the Trojans featured a pair of new qualifiers and an improvement in conference standard while competing in Virginia. Sophomore
Jaleal Hamlett posted a season-best mark of 6.57 meters (21-6.75 feet), while freshman
Josh Manning produced a personal record with the same distance to qualify for the conference championships in the long jump. Sophomore
Jeremiah Kimbrough also hit the league mark for the first time after delivering a distance of 6.51 meters (21-4.25 feet).
The Trojans return to action tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 11, for day two at the Pre-National Meet, with events kicking off at 9 a.m.
