COLORADO SPRINGS (Oct. 31) – After completing the undefeated conference regular season, the University of Mount Olive field hockey program leaped one spot to No. 4 in the latest Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II National Coaches Poll, which was released by the organization on Tuesday.
The Trojans extended the longest winning streak in Division II to 15 in a row and earned hosting right for the South Atlantic Conference (SAC) Tournament this week. UMO has won 27 straight conference games and captured back-to-back regular season conference titles. Mount Olive continues to feature the top offense in NCAA Division II with 4.12 goals, 3.25 assists, and 11.50 points per game.
The national poll featured several changes with East Stroudsburg (15-2) reclaiming the top ranking with 13 first-place votes after extending its winning streak to five straight. Shippensburg (14-3) fell one positon in the poll ahead of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament. Kutztown registered its sixth consecutive victory to improve to 15-2 overall, while the Trojans jumped to fourth overall. Saint Anselm (15-3) climbed to fifth after winning its seven straight match.
The SAC features two programs in the top 10 this week, as Newberry reentered the poll at No. 10 behind a 14-3 overall record with an 11-3 mark in conference play.
The Penn Monto/NFHCA Division II Coaches Poll is a composite ranking of the top 10 teams with a .500 or better record in the nation each week. Each Division II team with an NFHCA member coach is permitted one vote for the ranking each week. Polls are announced every Tuesday during the field hockey playing season. The Penn Monto/NFHCA Division II National Coaches Poll is voted on by NFHCA member coaches and has no bearing on selection to the 2023 NCAA Division II Field Hockey Championship.
