SALISBURY, N.C. (Oct. 3) – The freshmen duo of
Claire Beitel and
Lucie Levet posted top-20 finishes following three rounds, as the Trojans placed sixth in the team standings at the Patsy Rendleman Invitational, hosted by Catawba.
The University of Mount Olive women's golf team shot a 105-over 957 (317-319-321) while competing at the Country Club of Salisbury in North Carolina. Anderson (SC) captured the invitational title by 10 strokes with a 47-over 899 (302-302-295) behind five golfers in the top-10 overall. Lenoir-Rhyne finished second in the team standings with a 57-over 909 (307-296-206), while South Carolina Beaufort placed third overall with an 80-over 932 (317-304-311) and featured the individual medalist.
Beitel and Levet tied for 19th on the individual leaderboard in a field of 60 golfers while competing at the two-day event. Beitel climbed six positions on the final day to card a 22-over 235 (76-83-76) with six birdies, including three in the final round. She also finished second on the team with 25 pars. Levet also finished with a 22-over 235 (78-75-82) and led the team with eight birdies, while converting 23 pars over 54 holes. The duo has posted two top-20 finishes through a pair of competitions this fall.
Freshman
Valentina Agostino tied for 31st place with a 28-over 241 (77-80-84) with five birdies and 23 pars. She delivered a birdie three times on the par-five 15th hole while competing in North Carolina. Senior
Victoria Morelli finished 36th overall after carding a 33-over 246 (86-81-79) over three rounds and paced the Trojans with 26 pars. Sophomore
Violette Daudin placed 51st on the leaderboard with a 51-over 264 (90-83-91) and made 13 pars.
South Carolina Beaufort senior Ashleigh Mead earned the individual title by three strokes after firing a five-over 218 (71-71-76) while leading the field with 11 birdies.
Mount Olive is idle for two weeks before playing on Oct. 16-17 at the St. Simons Intercollegiate in Georgia at the King and Price Golf Resort.
