Rasmus Ronnberg finished the fall campaign with his fourth-straight top-10 finish on Tuesday, as the Trojans place fourth overall in the team standings at the LR Fall Invitational at the Lake Hickory Country Club.
The University of Mount Olive men's golf program carded a 35-over 899 (302-292-304) to finish fourth out of 11 teams in the field. The host Bears claimed the invitational title by 20 strokes after firing a 13-under 851 (284-282-285) with all five golfers in the top 10 on the individual leaderboard. Catawba captured second in the team standings with a 23-over 887 (293-294-300), while Sandhills Community College rounded out the top three after carding a 28-over 892 (300-299-293).
Ronnberg paced the Trojans for a fourth consecutive event and placed ninth overall on the individual leaderboard with a three-over 219 (73-73-73) behind an eagle, 10 birdies, and 30 pars over 54 holes. He registered the eagle on the par-four 17th hole during the second round of play. Ronnberg closed the fall season by averaging 72.27 strokes over 15 rounds of play.
Sophomore
Matthew Richardson and
Shawn Benson tied for 20th overall in a field of over 60 golfers. Richardson carded an 11-over 227 (74-75-78) with seven birdies and 31 pars, while Benson also finished with an 11-over 227 (77-72-78) with 11 birdies and 28 pars.
Fellow sophomore
Max Lindblad finished 25th overall with a 13-over 229 (80-74-75) while converting nine birdies and 27 pars over the two-day event. Junior
Edvin Perman placed one position back in a tie for 26th with a 14-over 230 (79-73-78) behind six birdies and a team-high 32 pars.
Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore Sean Finan earned individual medalist honors by four strokes with an eight-under 208 (71-68-69) with 12 birdies and 37 pars over three rounds.
Mount Olive concluded its fall season on Tuesday after competing in five events in four different states.
