GAFFNEY, S.C. (Oct. 21) – Behind four goals in the first half, the No. 4 University of Mount Olive field hockey team captured a 4-3 victory at Limestone on Saturday in South Atlantic Conference (SAC) action.
With the win, the Trojans extended the longest winning streak in Division II to 14 in a row and improves to 14-1 this season behind a 13-0 mark in league play. Following the results in conference action this weekend, UMO claimed the regular season SAC Championship and will earn a bye directly to the semifinals. Meanwhile, the Saints drop to 8-4 overall with an identical record in league play.

Amber Dercksen, who beat the goalkeeper to her sixth goal of the year, 1-0. Just over a minute later on a penalty corner, Congleton tallied her team-leading 13th goal of the season off an assist from Dercksen to extend the advantage to 2-0 in the first quarter. Jemimah Kriechelberg elevated the shot off her stick into the top of the net at the 12:32 mark, 3-0. The Trojans stretched the lead to 4-0 in the second quarter after freshman
Femke van Marle recorded a goal with a second assist tallied by Dercksen at the 27:47 mark. Just under two minutes later, Limestone cut the deficit to 4-1 to trail by three goals at the break.
The Saints managed just two attempts on goal in the third quarter and scored twice to close the gap to 4-3 heading into the final 15 minutes. Mount Olive dominated possession in the fourth quarter and held Limestone to zero shots to secure the win.

The Trojans held a 14-8 shot advantage in the victory while also boasting a 12-6 edge in penalty corners.
