WILSON, N.C. (Oct. 20) – Due to inclement weather, the fall finale for the Mount Olive men's and women's tennis programs against Charleston (WV) has been canceled, with no plans to resume or reschedule.
On the men's side, the Trojans trailed by a 3-1 margin against the Golden Eagles before rain forced a postponement and an eventual cancellation of the dual match. Charleston claimed the doubles point after winning two of the three matches to open the competition. In the first doubles, senior
Guilherme Zotin de Oliveira and freshman
Kristoffer Dalbak fell by a 6-7 margin to Jorge Perez and Alberto Nordio. Sophomores
Niklas Gruenefeldt and
Bram Poel earned a 6-3 victory in the second position over Vicente Garcia and Omar Elsamahy before sophomore
Kabir Chhabria and freshman
Hampus Hagglund suffered a 4-6 loss to Farhaan Patrawala and Krish Patel.
In singles play, de Oliveira fell by a 6-3, 2-6, 2-6 decision to Perez in the first singles, while Gruenefeldt suffered a 3-6, 0-6 defeat to Garcia in the second slot. In his first dual-match appearance, Dalbak secured a 6-1, 6-4 win against Patrawala in the third position. Poel played in the fourth singles and held a 6-0, 3-2 lead versus Elsamahy as the match was left unfinished. Chhabria led by a 4-2 margin in the fifth slot over Marcelo Pinto before weather forced an end to the match.
On the women's side, Mount Olive trailed 2-0 to Charleston on Friday afternoon and lost the doubles point to begin the match. Freshmen

Victoria Calle suffered a 1-6 loss to Prinkle Singh and Sofiia Krasikova in the first position. In the second doubles, senior
Jessica Aylward and
Simone Szovan sealed a 6-3 win over Michelle Connor and Sara Martinez. Freshmen
Lara Stamereilers and
Sara Gajbhiye fell by a 4-6 margin to Filippa Larsson and Claudia Pastor in the third slot.
In singles action, only one match was competed prior to the contest being canceled. Szovan suffered a 0-6, 4-6 loss to Larsson in the third singles. In the first position, Stamereilers and Krasikova were tied at 2-6, 6-3, 5-5, while Guerrero held a 7-5, 4-4 advantage in the second singles versus Connor. In the fourth position, Calle trailed by a 2-6, 0-1 margin to Riva Hondiashvilli.
This brings a conclusion to the fall season for the Trojans.
