Results ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. (Oct. 17) – The freshmen tandem of
Lucie Levet and
Valentina Agostino registered top-20 finishes, as the University of Mount Olive women's golf team placed sixth overall at the St. Simons Intercollegiate, hosted by Lincoln Memorial.
The Trojans carded a 49-over 625 (316-309) while competing at the King and Prince Golf Course in the Peach State. The host Railsplitters captured the team title after firing a 34-over 610 (299-311) behind the lowest round of the event during the opening day. Newberry finished four strokes back in second place with a 38-over 614 (313-301) and Catawba rounded out the top three with a 39-over 615 (312-303).
Levet and Agostino tied for 14th overall at 10-over 154 on the leaderboard in a field of over 90 golfers. Levet (77-77) paced the Trojans with 21 pars and four birdies in her third event of the fall. In the final round, she registered three birdies, all on par fours. Levet earned her third consecutive top-20 finish in her first year at Mount Olive. Agostino (77-77) recorded her best career finish after totaling 20 pars and three birdies at the competition. She tallied two birdies in the final round, including one on the par-three 12th hole.
Freshman
Claire Beitel tied for 30th overall with a 14-over 158 (80-78) while making 18 pars and three birdies at the two-day event. Junior
Victoria Morelli finished in a tie for 38th overall at 15-over 159 (82-77) behind 19 pars and three birdies. Sophomore
Violette Daudin rounded out the team with a 24-over 168 (84-84) with 16 pars.
Erskine junior Amanda Guzman claimed the individual title by two strokes after carding a one-over 145 (71-74) behind 26 pars and five birdies over 36 holes.
The Trojans are idle for two weeks before concluding the fall season on Oct. 30-31 at the Converse Fall Invite, hosted at the Woodfin Ridge Golf Course in South Carolina.
