ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (Sept. 27) – Led by three top-20 finishers, the University of Mount Olive men's golf placed second overall in its fall-opener at the Jay Jennison Cup hosted by Flagler on Tuesday.

The Trojans finished with a 10-over 874 (293-285-296) while playing at The Palencia Club. UMO featured a lineup with four freshmen and held the lead in the team standings after the opening two rounds of play, including carding the lowest round of the tournament at three-under 285 on Monday.

Freshman Max Lindblad led the team and tied for second overall with a one-under 215 (73-69-73). He shot a three-under 69 in the second round with five birdies, including three on the front nine. Over the three rounds, Lindblad tied for fifth in the field with 11 birdies and was one of nine players to average even-par or better on par-threes

Fellow freshman Rasmus Ronnberg tied for 14th place and fired a four-over 220 (73-72-75) after shooting an even-par 72 in the second round. He paced the field with 42 pars over the two-day event while scoring five birdies in his debut with the program. Freshman Jonas Arnstrom Bakker tied for 16th overall with a five-over 221 (76-72-73) and was one of seven participants to card an eagle at the tournament, which he achieved on the par-five fourth.

Junior David Hoermann posted a 10-over 226 (79-72-75) to finish tied for 26th place on the individual leaderboard. He ranked second on the team with nine birdies at the event in Florida, including tallying five during his even-par 72 second round. Freshman Matthew Richardson rounded out the team scorers with a 13-over 229 (71-80-78) and tied for 33rd overall after totaling eight birdies in his collegiate debut.

Junior Will Locey earned medalist honors by one stroke with a two-under 214 (71-69-74) while playing in the field of over 65 golfers from 12 teams.

The Trojans are idle for a week before competing at the Queens Fall Invitational on Oct. 10-11 in Kannapolis, North Carolina.
