Mount Olive, N.C. – The University of Mount Olive women's soccer team took a 6-0 victory over the Big Blues of Bluefield State College, Wednesday afternoon at Amon Field in Mount Olive, N.C.
Game Information
Mount Olive (4-0-1) grabbed the momentum in the 7th minute as Emily Hein found the back of the net for her fifth goal of the season. Bluefield State (1-3-0) held UMO off the scoreboard for 20 minutes before Jasmine Pinter scored off a Shaunalee Govia pass. Govia assisted in one more goal for the Trojans prior to the halftime horn, when Samantha Hamrick blasted a shot past the Big Blues keeper.
In the second, up 3-0, Abigail Crawford came alive securing a hat trick before the 81st minute, all unassisted. She scored her first goal and third of the season in the 49th minute, her second in the 69th minute, and wrapped up her trifecta in the 81st minute. BSC had no response for the Mount Olive attack as they managed just three shots in the second half and the Trojans defeated the Big Blues 6-0.
Trojan Leaders
Mount Olive was led by Pinter (1), Hein (1), Hamrick (1), and Crawford (3) who each contributed to the offense. Govia finished the game with two assists.
Key Stat
Mount Olive's offense was a force the entire match, however, the Trojans committed 16 offsides a season-high. Crawford also led the team with five shots, three on target, for UMO.
