Box Score MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - The Trojans hosted Queens University Tuesday afternoon. Tuesday's contest was the last regular season game of the year for Trojans Field Hockey. Mount Olive fell 8-0.
SENIOR DAY
The Trojans held a senior day ceremony prior to the beginning of the game. Five members of team were honored.
Rosario Bove,
Samantha Bearden, and
Lauren Lehmann completing their senior spring semester in May. While juniors,
Riley Houston and
Kaylin Holdeman, are graduating early. Each individual were presented with a framed picture of their playing career at Mount Olive. Bove could not be in attendance.
GAME INFORMATION
Each team started out strong on defense. The Royals registered the first shot on goal and it found the back of the net giving Queens a 1-0 lead three minutes into the first quarter. Goaltender
Railyn King stood strong to close out quarter number one, making four saves, keeping the Trojans deficit at one heading into the second quarter.
Ten minutes into the second quarter the teams exchanged scoring chances with each goaltender stopping both. Shortly after, the Royals scored their second of the day, increasing their lead to 2-0. With just over a minute left till halftime the Royals struck again, taking a 3-0 lead into the half.
The Royals continued their momentum on offense, scoring a minute into the third quarter, increasing their lead to 4-0. After a strong defensive period the Trojans launched a shot on goal but it was turned away by goaltender Marlee Geppert. Turning defense into offense, Queens scored a minute later making their lead 5-0. With a five goal lead entering the fourth quarter the Royals scored three minutes in, increasing their lead to 6-0. Queens added two goals late, taking the final, 8-0.

With the Trojans down just two, Queens scored before halftime, making the Trojans deficit three.
