Trojans Fall on the Road to Newberry

Box Score NEWBERRY, S.C. - Mount Olive field hockey traveled south to play Newberry College on Tuesday afternoon. They lost the matchup 6-0. 

GAME INFORMATION
Four minutes into the game the Newberry Wolves found the back of the net courtesy of a shot from Kelli Marshall. With just under five minutes left to play in the first quarter, goaltender Victoria Lane made back-to-back saves to keep the Wolves lead at 1-0. Minutes later the Wolves added another goal, increasing their lead to 2-0 going into the second quarter.

The second quarter was a defensive battle with neither team allowing a shot on goal until the final 33 seconds of the half when Caitlin Wassermann scored. Giving the Wolves a 3-0 lead going into halftime.

The third quarter was another impressive showing for each team's defense. Only a combined three shots found their way on goal, Victoria Lane stopping two, keeping the Trojans deficit to three goals heading into the final quarter. One minute and thirty seconds into the fourth quarter Victoria Lane turned away another shot. Eight minutes into the final quarter the Wolves added another goal extending their lead to 4-0. They would add two more goals minutes later, going on to win the game 6-0.

Lily Drury scored two goals on the day.

KEY MOMENT
The key moment of the game came when Caitlin Wassermann scored with under a minute to go till halftime, extending the Wolves lead, 3-0. 

UP NEXT
The Trojans return to action ten days from now, Friday, March 12th at 2 pm, at the Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex against Coker University.
