Trojans Fall Short to Begin their Season

BELMONT, North Carolina --  The Trojans began their shortened season against Conference Carolinas opponent, the Belmont Abbey Crusaders, on a sunny Tuesday afternoon. The team ultimately fell short, 3-0.

Game Information
The game was deadlocked through the first period. Trojans goaltender, Victoria Lane, made the first two saves of the game at the 10 minute mark, to keep the game tied going into period two. Scoring got started by Belmont Abbey three minutes into period two with Sarah Tobin getting on the board. With just over two minutes left in the second period, Lane made another save to keep the deficit at one going into the half. Belmont Abbey would add two insurance goals in the third period, at the 35th and 41st minute marks, respectively. The Crusaders would hold onto their 3-0 lead and blank the Trojans in the fourth period. 

Trojan Leaders
Victoria Lane limited a pesty Crusaders offense to three goals. Making 12 saves on 15 shots on goal. 
Alisia Lovejoy led the Trojans with 2 shots on goal.

Crusaders Leaders
Camrynn Aiello notched one goal while putting 2 shots on goal.
Caroline Griffin launched 4 shots on goal, one of them finding the back of the net.

Key Moment
The 18th minute in the second period when Sarah Tobin scored to put the Crusaders up by one. Their lead would ultimately grow to 3-0 and go on to win the game.
