Trojans Lose at Home Against Limestone College


MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - The Trojans held their home opener on a sunny Tuesday afternoon at the Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex. The Trojans hosted the Limestone Saints in a South Atlantic Conference Carolinas battle, losing 3-1.

Game Information
The scoring got underway just one minute into the game when Manon Vincent buried a rebound, giving the Saints a 1-0 lead. The Trojans defense and goalkeeper, Victoria Lane, held the deficit to one for the remainder of the first half, turning away five shots on goal. Six minutes into the 3rd quarter, Manon Vincent found the back of the net again, making the score 2-0. Three minutes into the 4th quarter Limestone added another goal. Mount Olive responded quickly one minute later. The Trojans were fouled resulting in a penalty stroke for Mckenzie Yi.  Yi converted the attempt and drew the score to 3-1. The Trojans battle until the end, but ultimately lost by the final score of 3-1. 

Trojan Leaders
The Trojans were led by Mckenzie Yi, who scored her first goal of the season. In goal Victoria Lane saved 8-11 shots on goal.

Saints Leaders
Limestone was led by Manon Vincent who scored two goals in the contest.

Key Moment
The key moment in the game was the goal scored by Manon Vincent of Limestone one minute in, which ultimately became the game winning goal.
