Box Score BELMONT, N.C- The University of Mount Olive men's volleyball team defeated the Crusaders of Belmont Abbey College in straight sets on Friday night on the road.
GAME INFORMATION
Mount Olive lost the opening point and the set became tied eight times before the Trojans broke the deadlock with two straight points to take a 13-11 lead. The set went onto being knotted five more before UMO took the final two points needed to win the set and won 27-25.
The second set saw the Trojans take the first point of the set but had Belmont Abbey take control for the early set of the game as they jumped out to a 14-7 advantage. UMO fought hard however and following a Jarrod Ferguson kill from Luke Visgitis the Trojans tied the set at 20. The set went onto be tied three times before Mount Olive finished with the final three points and took the second set 27-25.
The third set had the Trojans come out to a 8-4 lead and extended it to six at 16-10. BAC closed the gap to two late in the set as they were able to bring the deficit to 18-16. Following a Crusader timeout, UMO extended their lead back to four at 21-17. The Trojans slipped a touch at the end, however were able to take the final points of the set and win the final set 25-19.
Trojan Leaders
The Trojans were led by Tobi Azeez with 11 kills in the match. Jarrod Ferguson led the defense with eight digs and six blocks.
Belmont Abbey Leaders
The Crusaders were led by Matteo Miselli with 16 kills.
Key Moment
The key moments came from every set as UMO was able to close out every set tonight despite constant runs by Belmont Abbey.
