Box Score Salisbury, North Carolina - The University of Mount Olive No.10 men's lacrosse team defeated the Catawba Indians 12-3 in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon in Sailsbury, N.C.
INSIDE THE SCORE
Mount Olive won the opening faceoff and scored the first two goals of the game by Blake Tallon and Braydon Hickey. The Indians answered back at the 7:29 mark with a goal, but still trailed behind 2-1. Brody Sullivan put the ball in the back of the net to help the Trojans take the lead 3-1 as the first quarter drew to a close.
In the second quarter, Mike Marto won the faceoff for the Trojans and added one to the scoreboard by Braydon Hickey leading 4-1 with 11:59 remaining. Both teams played solid offensively and defensively and with three seconds to go, the Trojans were able to find the back of the net to get one more on the scoreboard leading 5-1 going into the break.
In the third quarter, Mount Olive played good offensively and defensively. Both teams only scored two points in the third with the Trojans still leading 7-3 going into the final quarter.
In the final quarter, Mount Olive found their momentum and were able to shut down the Indians defensively and outscored them 5-0 to close the game to take home the 12-3 win. The last five goals were made by Conner Watson, Lucas Shein, Parker Beaudry, Chaz Goodman, and Mike Marto.
MOUNT OLIVE LEADERS
The Trojans were led by Braydon Hickey with two goals. Mike Marto won 13-18 faceoffs and led the Trojans with eight groundballs.
CATAWBA LEADERS
The Catawba Indians were led Matt Mitchell with one goal and four groundballs.
KEY MOMENT
The key moment of the game was in the final quarter when the Trojans went on a 5-0 run to close the game and took home the 12-3 victory.

Mount Olive will return to action on February 20th when the Trojans are back on the Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex to face Queens University of Charlotte. The first face-off is set for 1 p.m.
