Mount Olive, N.C.--
The University of Mount Olive (5-7, 5-5) fell to Belmont Abbey (8-5, 6-4) 1-0 in overtime, in South Atlantic Conference Carolinas action Wednesday afternoon.
Game Information
The opening quarter was defensive battle as only two shots were recorded all for Belmont Abbey. The Crusaders also had the advantage in corners at 3-1.
In the second the same script happened as no goals were scored, with both teams registering a shot.
In the third, the Crusaders were the only team to have a shot, however, the Trojans did not surrender a penalty corner and the game went into the final frame still scoreless.
Mount Olive in the fourth, had the only two shots of the quarter but could not find the winning goal, and the game went into overtime.
The first overtime period did not last very long, as Belmont Abbey was able to sneak the golden goal past the Trojans' keeper and win the game 2:34 into extra time.
