GREENVILLE, South Carolina. --- The University of Mount Olive Baseball team placed 18 players on the 2020 Conference Carolinas All-Conference teams, it was announced by the conference office. This season as special recognition for the spring seasons being canceled the Conference Carolinas awarded All-Conference honors to all seniors from each member institution. Dusty Baker, Julian Blackburn, Mike Bovenzi, Kyle Davis, Nick DeCarlo, Matt Heard, Seth Houston, Jake Isbell, Trent Joiner, Justin Lee, Joe Mason, Mason Medlin, Kai Poffenroth, James Smibert, Zack Smith, Junior Snow, Gunner Tolston, and Logan Welch all received All-Conference honors this season.
Baker, a senior from Clyo, Ga. played in all 23 games for the Trojans compiling a .281 batting average, driving in 10 runs with two home runs, a triple, and two doubles to go along with six stolen bases.
Blackburn, a senior from Wilmington, N.C. appeared in four games for UMO this season and finished the season with a 0-1 record and a 7.71 ERA and struck out four batters.
Bovenzi, a senior from Shirley, N.Y. only appeared in one game this season and pitched two-thirds of an inning striking out two batters and hold a spotless ERA.
Davis, a senior from Pikeville, N.C. had the most appearances out of the pen for the Trojans with 10 throwing 15.2 innings holding a 3.45 ERA with a 2-0 overall record and one save.
DeCarlo, a senior from Gaithersburg, Md. held a 3.18 ERA with a 1-0 record over 11.1 innings this season in six appearances for UMO.
Heard, a senior from Cumming, Ga., only had one appearance off the bench this season but throughout his career at UMO has played in 15 games in a dual role both as a pitcher and position player. In the outfield Heard held a sub .200 average with two RBI and from the hill sported a 0-1 record with 12 strikeouts over 11 appearances.
Houston, a senior from Virginia Beach, Va. appeared in five games this season and held a 6.75 ERA with a 1-0 record and 10 strikeouts.
Isbell, a senior from Holly Springs, N.C. was called on eight times from the pen and finished the season with a 2-1 record, 3.97 ERA, and 12 strikeouts over 11.1 innings.
Joiner, a senior from Huntersville, N.C. was the third-highest game-starter for Mount Olive starting three games this season out of his five appearances. He finished the season with a 1-1 record and a 4.97 ERA to go along with 13 strikeouts over 12.2 innings.
Lee, a senior from Snow Hill, N.C. appeared in five games this season collecting a .250 batting average with two walks and an RBI.
Mason, a senior from Morehead City, N.C. was the team leader in runs scored (29), hits (38), home runs (5), RBI (26), avg. (.418), and slugging percentage (.681). The left fielder only missed one game all season for Mount Olive.
Medlin, a senior from Clayton, N.C. despite not appearing in a game this season did appear in 12 games last season holding a 1.35 ERA with a 1-0 record.
Poffenroth, a senior from Bentley, Canada only came into two games this year but held a blank ERA in his two-thirds of an innings.
Smibert, a senior from Mississauga, Ontario appeared in nine games for UMO at third base finishing the season with a .354 batting average, nine RBI, three doubles, a triple, and one home run.
Smith, a senior from Goldsboro, N.C. started nearly every game behind the plate for Mount Olive and finished the season with a .286 batting average driving in 15 runs with five extra-base hits.
Snow, a senior from King, N.C. was third on team in runs scored with 18 playing in every game this season. He held a . 311 average with 16 RBI, eight doubles, and one triple.
Tolston, a senior from Swansboro, N.C. was tied for the lead in at bats with 91 and finished the year with a .275 average. He was third in RBI with 19 and tied for second in home runs with four.
Welch, a senior from Winston-Salem, N.C. appeared in five games this season recording two walks, one hit, and a run scored.
The Trojans ended their season with a 19-4 overall record, and 7-2 Conference Carolinas record including being ranked No. 17 in NCAA DII before the remainder of the season was canceled.
