Box Score 2 MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - The University of Mount Olive softball team won the doubleheader against Winston-Salem State and Alderson Broaddus 8-0, 5-1 on Saturday afternoon in Mount Olive, N.C.
GAME ONE INFORMATION
Mount Olive took the momentum from the beginning when they hit two home runs and scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning.
The Trojans added to their lead in the bottom of the third inning when they doubled home a run pushing their lead to 5-0.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Trojans added three more runs coming from a home run and a single to put the Trojans up 8-0. The game ended on a mercy-rule and had the trojans victorious 8-0 in the first game.
TROJAN LEADERS
The Trojan offense was led by Alyssa Pickle who had two home runs and three RBIs. Eileen Barrera also helped the Trojans with a double and a home run leading to three RBIs.
WINSTON-SALEM STATE LEADERS
The Rams were led by Shauntaja Dedecker who had two hits.
KEY MOMENT
The key moment the Trojans scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning coming off two home runs by Alyssa Pickle and Eileen Barrera.
GAME TWO INFORMATION
Both teams were kept quiet offensively until the bottom of the second inning when the Trojans scored their first two runs putting them up 2-0. The Trojans added one more run in the third inning.
Alderson responded with a run of their own and had the score at 3-1 until Mount Olive scored again at the bottom of the fourth making it 4-1.
The Trojans added another run in the bottom of the fifth making it 5-1 to end the game.
TROJAN LEADERS
The Trojans were led by Alyssa Pickle who went 2 for 3 with one RBI. Also, Cassandra Lassiter went 2 for 3 and two RBIs.
AB LEADERS
The Alderson Broaddus were led by Maura Mallon who went 2 for 2 and Payton Barr who went 1 for 3 with one RBI.
KEY MOMENT
The key moment was when Mount Olive scored three unanswered runs to start the game.
