Box Score Mount Olive, North Carolina - The No.13 University of Mount Olive men's lacrosse team defeated Florida Tech 9-6 in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at the Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex in Mount Olive, N.C.
INSIDE THE SCORE
Mount Olive won the opening faceoff, but Florida Tech regained possession to score the first goal with 8:10 remaining in the quarter to take the lead. Mount Olive quickly found the back of the net going on a 3-0 run to take the lead 3-1 to end the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the Trojans came out hot as they scored their fourth goal within thirty-six seconds into the game by Tim Collins, helping the Trojans stay in the lead 4-1. It didn't take long for the Panthers to respond back, going on a 3-0 run to tie the game 4-4 going into the half.
In the third quarter, UMO played solid offensively and defensively. The Trojans outscored the Pathers 3-1 as Conner Watson got the scoring started off with 10:07 on the clock with an assisted goal by Lucus Shein. Florida Tech was able to answer, but the Trojans stayed on top with the lead 7-5 to end the third quarter.
In the final quarter, Mount Olive's freshmen Chance Urban scored with 13:51 remaining to put the Trojans up by three. The Panthers answered with one more goal at the 12:28 mark but still trailed 8-6. Florida Tech fought hard, but the Trojans never surrendered up the lead, adding one more goal to end the game with a 9-6 win.
