Trojans Battle At VMI Indoor Classic

LEXINGTON CITY, Virginia - The University of Mount Olive men's track and field team had a strong showing at the VMI Indoor Classic in Lexington City, Va. The Trojans saw four moves inside the top-10 all-time list and one NCAA Provisional Qualifying mark hit.

MEET INFORMATION
The Trojan men's and women's teams saw their fourth NCAA Provisional mark hit of the indoor season over the weekend.

INSIDE THE RESULTS

On the women's side, Sydney McCoy set her second straight NCAA Provisional Qualifying Mark in the 60m with a time of 7.67. Jaiden Moody (26.36) moved into 10th all-time in the 200m and set a new personal best in the process. Tameia Morrison (15.20m)in the weight throw took eighth in the event and moved into third all-time and fourth in the conference.

In other events; Lena Kaster moved into eighth in the mile (5:37.00) and third in the 3000m (11:05.49). Malak Kafi (8.85) set a season-best in the 60mh  taking third in the event and moving into 1st in the conference. She was also just five-hundredths of a second away from an NCAA provisional mark. Kafi also moved into seventh in the conference in the long jump (5.30m). Taylor Moncrief had a strong outing in the high jump (1.60m) and triple jump (11.44m) taking 5th and 6th respectively in the meet. She also moved into the top spot in the conference in the triple jump.

On the men's side, Josh Faison (15.24m) moved into 2nd all-time and finished eighth in the meet, improving his 2nd-place mark in the conference. Tom Kalliske (14.86m) in the weight throw moved into second all-time and moved into sixth in the conference.

In other events; Trevor Carr (14.29m) hit a season-best in the triple jump, moving into third in the conference. Richard Fisher (49.39) took sixth in the 400m. Daniel Francken had a season-best in the mile (4:26.95) moving him into third in the conference and in the 3000m (8:42.69) set a personal best placing sixth and taking the top spot in the conference. In the high jump, Elijah Osimokun (1.80m) and Nykie Pray (1.80m) both tied for seventh in the conference standings.

The Trojans are back in competition on February 23 when the Trojans attempt to repeat as the Conference Carolinas Indoor Track and Field Champions in Winston-Salem, N.C.
