UMO Volleyball Falls To Limestone 3-1

MOUNT OLIVE, North Carolina. - The University of Mount Olive men's volleyball team fell to the Saints of Limestone 3-1, 25-21 25-22 21-25 25-20 on Saturday afternoon in Kornegay Arena.

GAME INFORMATION
The opening set started with Mount Olive taking the first point but quickly saw the set tied at three. The set went onto be tied 10 more times before Limestone finished the frame on a 9-to-5 run and took the set 25-21.

Mount Olive after being down 6-4 took a five-point run to regain the lead at 9-6 a lead that was eliminated eight times throughout the set as the Saints finished the set scoring the final five points to take the second set 25-22.

The third set was all UMO as the Trojans played their best set by far jumping out to a 12-5 lead to start. Limestone put together a few two-point rallies, but they were countered by the Trojans including a three-point swing giving UMO a 21-16 lead. Following a Jarrod Ferguson kill, the Trojans had set point but had to wait one point more before an attack error gave UMO the set win and forced a fourth set. 

The final set saw Limestone take all the momentum from the start taking a 5-1 lead forcing a UMO timeout. The Saints expanded the lead to six after a 6-1 run taking the advantage to 21-15. Despite a late surge from Mount Olive scoring four points to LC's one drew the deficit to four, but the Saints ended the match with a kill and took the match 3-1.

TROJAN LEADERS
The Trojans were led by Jarrod Ferguson with 14 kills in the match. Nicolas Laxar tallied 40 of the team's 43 assists. Trevor Treser also had 16 digs on the night

LIMESTONE LEADERS
The Saints were led by Francisco Salinger Cenzual with 20 kills. Christos Gkitersos also collected 36 assists.

KEY MOMENT
The key moment came in the final set when LC was able to hold off a late surge from the Trojans and take the final point and win the set 25-20 and match 3-1

UP NEXT
Mount Olive remains at Kornegay Arena to take on archrival Barton on February 19 at 7 p.m.
