Trojans Compete At Camel City Invite And SC Invite

WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina/COLUMBIA, South Carolina - The University of Mount Olive men's track and field team had a strong showing at the Roanoke Invitational in Salem, Va. The Trojans saw nine moves inside the top-10 all-time list and one NCAA Provisional Qualifying mark hit.

MEET INFORMATION
The Trojan men's and women's teams saw their third NCAA Provisional mark hit of the indoor season over the weekend.

INSIDE THE RESULTS

On the women's side, Sydney McCoy set an NCAA Provisional Qualifying Mark in the 60m with a time of 7.62. The time ties her for 23rd in Division II. She also moved into second in the UMO record book in the 200m with a time of 25.63. Jacqueline Thring (58.06) improved her time in the 400m and moved into 3rd place in the conference standings. Jaiden Moody (60.86) moved into eighth all-time in the 400m. 

In other events; Taylor Moncrief (1.60m) took second in the high jump. Jacqueline Thring (25.63) moved into second in the conference in the 200m. Amber Owens (5:26.23) improved her first-place mark in the conference in the mile. Lastly, Samantha Tobin (11.43m) moved into sixth in the shot put in the UMO record book.

On the men's side, Tedric Shannon (21.92m) moved into third all-time and seventh in the conference in the 200m. Kamari Walker moved into 10th all-time in both the 60m (7.07) and the 200m (22.70). Demond Cooper (8.26) improved his second-place standing in both the all-time and conference books in the 60mh and was five-hundredths of a second from an NCAA Provisional Qualifier. In the weight throw, Ben Howard (14.67m) and Tom Kalliske (14.65m) moved in 2nd/3rd all-time and 5th/6th in the conference. 

In other events; Branson Odour moved into fourth in the conference in the 5000m. Jereamy Hall (8:54.94) moved into third in the conference in the 3000m. Tedric Shannon (48.67) missed an NCAA Provo by 1 tenth of a second in the 400m. Johnny Middlebrooks moved into fifth and seventh in the conference in the 200m (21.87) and 400m (49.25) respectively. Richard Fisher (1:59.71) moved into sixth in the conference in the 800m and Lukis Padu (1:59.57) moved into fifth. Lastly in the high jump, Elijah Osimokun (1.78m) moved into seventh in the conference.

UP NEXT
The Trojans are back in competition on February 14-15 when the teams head to the VMI Indoor Classic in Lexington City, Va.
