LIBERTY/SALEM, Virginia - The University of Mount Olive men's track and field team had a strong showing at both the Liberty Kick-Off in Liberty, Va. and the Finn Pincus Invitational in Salem, Va. The Trojans saw eight Trojans move inside the top-10 on the all-time list and three Trojans take the 1st-place spot in the conference.
MEET INFORMATION
The Trojan men's and women's teams competed in their first dual meet of the 2020 year.
INSIDE THE RESULTS (FINN PINCUS)
On the men's side in the shot put Joshua Faison took second in the meet with his distance of 15.00m which was good enough to put him second all-time in the UMO record book as well as the conference. Also in the shot, Tom Kalliske took fifth with a mark of 14.69. moving him into third all-time in the UMO record book and in the conference.
In other events; Jon Wojcuich finished seventh in the weight throw with a distance of 14.17m improving his second-place mark in the UMO record book and moving into fifth in the conference.
On the women's side, Daphne Hawkins moved into fifth in UMO record books in the shot put with her mark of 12.11m, as she took fourth in the meet and moves into third in the conference. Mary Keck took third in the weight throw with a distance of 14.82m moving her into 3rd in the UMO record books and fourth in the conference.
In other events; Candise Lockett took first in the weight throw (15.42m) and Tameia Morrison finished fifth in the weight throw (14.15m) and moved into fifth in the conference.
INSIDE THE RESULTS (LIBERTY)
On the men's side in the 200m Tedric Shannon took 10 seconds off his previous time last week and moved into 6th all-time with a time of 22.24. In the triple jump, Ethan Hines moved into eighth all-time with his mark of 13.63m. He also moved into sixth in the conference this season.
In other events; Altan Cornu finished eighth in the 500m (68.43) and sixth in the 1000m (2:37.40). Daniel Francken took third in the 3000m (8:43.80) and now holds the best conference time. Jacob Gonzalez moved into second in the conference and took fifth in the 5000m (15:38.98). Eian Hines finished seventh in the long jump (6.92m).
On the women's side, Sydney McCoy moved into third all-time in the 200m with her time of 25.79. Amber Owens moved into seventh in the UMO record book and first in the conference in the 5000m with her time of 18:38.02.
In other events; Taylor Moncrief finished sixth in the pentathlon with 3129 points. She won the long jump event with the pentathlon with a season-best 5.49m mark. Amber Owens also moved into first in the conference in the mile with a time of 5:25.12.
