Box Score ROYSTON, Georgia - The University of Mount Olive men's volleyball team defeated the Lions of Emmanuel College in straight sets, 25-12 25-21 25-17 on Saturday morning inside the Shaw Athletic Center in Royster, Ga.
GAME INFORMATION
The opening set started with Mount Olive grabbing the first six points before Emmanuel was able to put a stop to the run and get a side out. The Trojans' lead grew to as large as 10 and remained that high for most of the set until UMO finished the set on a 5-to-2 run and took the set 25-12.
Mount Olive took a 9-2 lead out of the gate in the second set before EC was able to string together three unanswered points of their own. The small run combined with a four-point run to trim the UMO lead down to one 11-10. The squads exchanged pairs of points for the remainder of the set until Mount Olive finished the set on a 5-to-1 run and took the second set 25-21.
The final set began just as the first two with UMO starting with a large lead as they had a 10-4 lead early on. The Trojans maintained their lead not allowing Emmanuel to get closer than four points and closed out the set on a 5-to-2 run and took the set 25-17 and match 3-0.
TROJAN LEADERS
The Trojans were led by Tobi Azzez and Jarrod Ferguson with 12 kills each in the match. Shane Yeo tallied 27 of the team's 34 assists and Ryan Lynch led the defense recording 12 digs.
EMMANUEL LEADERS
The Lions were led by Don Thompson with 10 kills. Henrik Westhoff collected 23 assists and Ray Peterson tallied 12 digs.
KEY MOMENT
The key moment came in each set as UMO was able to gain a large lead an maintain it throughout each set and take the 3-0 match victory.
