Trojans Compete At JDL January Kick-Off

WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina - The University of Mount Olive men's track and field team had a strong showing at the JDL College Kick-Off in Winston-Salem, N.C. The Trojans saw eight Trojans move inside the top-10 on the all-time list.

MEET INFORMATION
The Trojan men's and women's teams competed in their first full meet as a team of the 2020 year at the JDL kick-off.

INSIDE THE RESULTS
On the men's side in the 200m Tedric Shannon finished 1st in the event with his time of 22.34 and moved into 6th all-time and seventh in the conference for the year. In the triple jump, Eian Hines moved into second all-time with his mark of 14.37m. He finished third in the event and also moved into second in the conference this season. Nykie Pray (14.24m) also finished just behind Hines and moved into fourth all-time and third in the conference. Lastly, Ivan Lopez-Testillano (13.68m) took eighth at the meet and improved his fifth place mark in the UMO record books and in the conference as well. In the shot put Josh Faison (14.35m) moved into fourth all-time and third in the conference with his third-place finish in the event. Jon Wojcuich in the weight throw (14.12m) moved into second all-time and fifth in the conference after his mark placed him sixth.

In other events; Trevor Carr fifth in the prelims of the 60m (7.10) and third in the long jump taking second in the conference. Jacob Gonzalez won the mile with a time of 4:27.75 and sits atop the conference. Jawann Washington took fifth in the high jump (1.91m). Eian Hines (7.12m) missed an NCAA Provisional qualifier by .01 in the long jump finishing second and is atop the conference standings. Ethan Hines finished fifth in the long jump (6.95m) and is fourth in the conference. Finally, Jereamy Hall in the 3000m (8:58.55) moved into third in the conference.

On the women's side, Mora Smith moved into third all-time in the triple jump (11.16m) taking fourth in the event and moved into third in the conference. Mary Keck cracked into the top-10 for the first time in the weight throw (13.57m) and took eighth in the event and sits eighth in the conference.

In other events; Lena Kester moved into seventh in the conference in the 3000m with a time of 11:45.75. Sydney McCoy took first in the 60m with a time of 7.74. Jacqueline Thring took sixth in both the 200m (26.29) and 400m (59.95) and moved into sixth and third respectively in the conference standings. Malak Kafi finished fifth in the 60mh (8.92) and now sits third in the conference. Jasmine Richardson also in the 60mh (9.13) took eighth behind Kafi. Taylor Moncrief finished fifth in the high jump (1.61m) and seventh in the long jump (5.31m) and moved into first and fifth place respectively in those events in the conference. Brittany Beckford took eighth in the high jump (1.56m). Candise Lockett took fifth in the weight throw (14.63m).

The Trojans are back in competition tomorrow when the team heads to dual meets at the Liberty Kickoff and Finn Pincus Invitational on January 24.
