Havens And Bacchus Earns Conference Carolinas All-Conference Honors; Havens Repeats As Player Of The Year

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA. - The 2019 Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball All-Conference honors were announced on Thursday afternoon at the awards banquet in Franklin Springs, Ga., in advance of the 2019 Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Championship Tournament semifinals and championship games hosted by No. 1 seeded Emmanuel College. At the banquet, the 'Of the Year' awards were announced as well as the all-conference teams and the UMO Trojans picked up two all-conference nods as well as the Conference Carolinas Player of the Year, for the second consecutive year.

Felecity Havens was named the 2019 Conference Carolinas Player of the Year as well as earning a spot on the All-Conference first-team, while teammate Jada Bacchus earned a third-team all-conference nod heading into today's game against the No. 1 Lions at 5:30 p.m.

Havens is a 'one of a kind player' and has made her stamp on the University of Mount Olive women's basketball program. She will leave at the end of this season as the program scoring leader and the first athlete in UMO women's basketball history to surpass 2,000 career points (2,054), while also sitting second in the records with 934 career rebounds, needing just 13 to tie the program record.

She is a two-time USBWA National Player of the Week (Dec. 4, 2018, & Feb. 4, 2018), three-time First-Team All-Conference honoree (16-17, 17-18, & 18-19), and has garnered nearly a dozen Conference Player of the Week honors. This season alone, Havens has recorded twenty, 20+ point games, including two 40+ point games, and eight double-doubles. Havens provides the leadership required of a team captain on the UMO women's basketball team and has worked hard on and off the court to better her game to help her team excel.

Other accolades to her name include D2CCA Third-Team All-American (2018), D2CCA First-Team All-Southeast Region (2018), and Conference Carolinas Player of the Year (2018).

Bacchus is another young lady packed full of skill and talent. The redshirt junior guard/forward leads the team in field goal percentage (49.3%), rebounds (260), assists (49), steals (58), and is tied with Havens for first in blocks (19). The Wilmington, N.C., native hit two big marks this season when she scored her 600th career point and 500th career rebound in the same contest (Jan. 19, 2019 - W, 70-65 vs. Lees-McRae). Bacchus also leads the team in double-doubles this season with 12 to date.

The All-Conference teams and major awards are nominated and voted on by the head coaches of member schools of the league. To view a full list of the other 'Of the Year' honorees and to see the rest of the All-Conference teams click here.
