Trojans Drop Road Matchup at Emory & Henry, 99-52

EMORY, Va. — Mount Olive couldn't overcome a difficult shooting day and a strong offensive surge by Emory & Henry on Wednesday morning, falling 92–55 in a non-conference matchup at the King Center.

The Trojans trailed by just six after the first quarter and continued to generate quality looks in the opening half, but Emory & Henry used a decisive 32-point third quarter to create separation. Mount Olive shot 29.7 percent from the field and 26.3 percent from three, while the Wasps finished at 54.7 percent overall.

UMO was led by Jada Priebe, who scored 13 points to go along with four rebounds. Savannah McAfee and Jerin Truesdale each added 10 points, with McAfee pulling down a team-high six boards and Truesdale adding five rebounds. Kayla Jackson knocked down a pair of threes for six points, while Destiny Thompson and Chloe Kester provided five points apiece off the bench.

Emory & Henry was paced by a balanced offensive effort that included a standout showing from Breanna Yarber, who finished with 32 points on 13-of-16 shooting.

Mount Olive returns home Saturday for a Conference Carolinas contest against Ferrum. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. inside Kornegay Arena.
