Hicks Records Career-High 20 Points as Trojans Battle North Greenville

TIGERVILLE, S.C.Despite a strong backcourt showing from Jayla Hicks and Savannah McAfee, Mount Olive fell 80–62 to North Greenville on Saturday afternoon in Conference Carolinas action at Hayes Gymnasium.

Hicks delivered the best offensive performance of her career, pouring in a career-high 20 points to mark her first 20-point game in a Mount Olive uniform. The guard was aggressive throughout the contest, attacking off turnovers and knocking down timely shots to keep the Trojans within reach.

McAfee complemented Hicks with another efficient outing, finishing with 21 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double. Together, Hicks and McAfee accounted for 41 of Mount Olive's 62 points, consistently answering North Greenville runs and providing steady scoring across all four quarters.

The Trojans were competitive early, playing to a 16–16 tie after the opening quarter behind the duo's combined offensive push. Mount Olive remained within striking distance at halftime and cut the deficit to six entering the fourth quarter following a resilient third-quarter effort.

Mount Olive continued to battle late, but North Greenville pulled away in the final period. The Trojans showed flashes of strong defense and transition offense, generating points off turnovers and fast-break opportunities behind Hicks' pace and McAfee's presence in the paint.

Mount Olive moves to 2–5 overall and 0–3 in Conference Carolinas play. The Trojans will look to build on the momentum from Hicks' breakout performance and the continued production of their leading scorers as conference play continues with a road trip to in-state rival Barton on Wednesday for a 5 pm tipoff in WIlson.
