Competing entirely against Division I opposition, the Mount Olive men's cross country team finished 29th out of 47 teams in the Men's Gold Division of the Lehigh University Paul Short Invitational Saturday at Bethlehem, Pa. The Trojan women's cross country team tied for 30th out of 45 teams in the Women's Brown Division.
Dylan Lafond placed among the top 10 percent of the field, finishing 39th out of 395 runners. His time of 24:44 in the 8k is the second fastest in Trojan history. He broke his own school record with a time of 24:12 in the Trojans' first meet of the season.
On the women's side, Megan Bucek posted the 12th fastest 6k time in school history with a time of 23:50. Bucek placed among the top third of the field, finishing 113th out of 365 runners. The Trojans tied with Winthrop and finished ahead of five of the 17 Division I schools competing.
Mount Olive returns to action Friday as the Trojans head to Charlotte, N.C., to compete in the Royal Challenge.
