Men's Volleyball Sweeps Tri-Meet at King; Winning Streak Reaches Nine

Mount Olive stretched its winning streak to nine games sweeping a men's volleyball tri-meet against Mount St. Joseph and King (Tenn.) Saturday afternoon in Bristol, Tenn. In the nightcap against King, Adam Miracle delivered 16 kills as the Trojans earned a Conference Carolinas road win 25-20, 25-22, 25-13. In the opener against Mount St. Joseph's, Renzo Rossato had 17 kills and four digs in a 25-23, 24-26, 25-15, 25-21 win.

The conference win is the Trojans' fourth in a row and pulled the squad within a half game of Eastern Division leading Pfeiffer. The Trojans travel to Pfeiffer Tuesday night.

The Trojans (15-12 overall, 6-2 Conference Carolinas) won the first set on the strength  of kills by Dan Arnold and Alex Rivero after the Tornado closed within 20-18. Kills by Jack Tutty and Lukas Hoelzl closed out the game.

In game two, the Trojans fell behind 10-7 when they committed four consecutive attack errors. King (8-19, 1-7) did not maintain their momentum, however, as a service error and a kill by Tim Ebbecke put Mount Olive ahead.

King pulled even for the final time at 18-18, but kills by Miracle and Rivero ended the game.

In the finale, Mount Olive reeled off 11 consecutive points, seven coming on attack or service errors by King.

Jackson Metichechhia added 39 assists and 10 digs for Mount Olive. Arnold also had 10 digs.

Against Mount St. Joseph's (4-16), 10 different Trojans delivered at least one kill in the sweep. Ben Casado and Quaid Marin added 21 and 18 assists respectively, while Arnold had nine digs and Casado seven.

Mount Olive returns to the floor Tuesday night against Eastern Division leader Pfeiffer College at Misenheimer, N.C. The teams played a five-set match at Kornegay Arena February 7, with Pfeiffer escaping with the win.
