Mount Olive continued its stretch of five consecutive matches against Division I opponents Thursday night, falling in the opening day of the Penn State Invitational to the host Nittany Lions 25-20, 25-6, 25-12 in State College, Penn. The Trojans were led by John Nunns with six kills while Jackson Metichechhia added 17 assists in the loss.

Mount Olive (2-6) gave Penn State all it wanted in the first set as the teams were tied 10 times before the Nittany Lions pulled away. The Trojans were hurt by 19 attack errors in the match. Penn State (5-1) also finished with 17 blocks.

Adam Miracle and Alex Rivero had five kills apiece for Mount Olive. Metichechhia and Lukas Hoelzl had three digs apiece.

Peter Russell had nine kills for the Nittany Lions.

The Trojans wrap up their stay in the invitational by facing nationally eighth-ranked Ohio State University Saturday beginning at 5 p.m.
