A sophomore guard from Gainesville, Virginia, Nelson averaged 14.7 points, 4.0 assists, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game, as the Trojans played in three non-conference contests last week. On Tuesday night, he tallied eight points, three rebounds, two assists, and one steal in 28 minutes at Winston-Salem State. Nelson followed up with 15 points on five-of-six shooting with six rebounds and four assists in 32 minutes on Friday, as the Trojans defeated Elizabeth City State by a 93-85 margin. The following day, he scored a career-high 21 points on 10-of-11 attempts with six assists and two steals in 29 minutes versus Georgia Southwestern. 

Nelson currently ranks fourth in the Conference Carolinas with 25 assists through five games this season.
