FERRUM, Va. — The University of Mount Olive women's soccer team earned a 2-0 road victory over Ferrum on Wednesday evening at Penn-Roediger Field.

The Trojans (2-2-2, 1-0-2) controlled the offensive pressure throughout the match, finishing with 27 shots, including 12 on target, while limiting the Panthers (1-4-0, 0-3-0) to just five shots and three shots on goal.

Mount Olive broke through in the 25th minute when Madyson Brown scored her first goal of the season to give the Trojans a 1-0 advantage. Brown finished the night with six shots, including four on target.

The Trojans carried the one-goal advantage into halftime after outshooting Ferrum 14-1 during the opening 45 minutes.

Mount Olive continued to pressure the Panthers in the second half before doubling its lead in the 75th minute. Hannah Spear found the back of the net for her first goal of the season, with Ellie Brock providing the assist to make it 2-0.

The Trojans' defense held firm down the stretch, allowing just four Ferrum shots in the second half. Goalkeeper Anais Coyne recorded three saves to secure the shutout and improve to 2-0-2 on the season.

Yaneli Sanchez led Mount Olive with seven shots, while Brown added six and Tanya Granholm recorded four. Ferrum goalkeeper Kailyn Myers made 10 saves in the match. Mount Olive also held advantages in shots on target (12-3) and corner kicks (5-3).

The Trojans return to action on Saturday against Virginia State at 3 p.m. at Amon Field.
