Reid's Career Night Comes in Sweep of Rival Barton

WILSON — The University of Mount Olive women's volleyball team delivered a dominant performance Tuesday night, sweeping Barton College 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-14) in Conference Carolinas action at Wilson Gymnasium.

The Trojans improved to 6-6 overall and 2-2 in conference play with the victory, while Barton fell to 2-9 overall and 0-4 in league play.

Mount Olive controlled the match from the start, hitting .333 as a team with 38 kills and 10 service aces. The Trojans saved their best offensive performance for the third set, recording 13 kills without an attack error on 20 attempts for a .650 hitting percentage.

Kaitlyn Koel led the Trojans with 10 kills while adding five total blocks, five digs and three aces. Bayli Bryan finished with eight kills while hitting .545, while Kaitlyn Landis also recorded eight kills.

Olivia Melvin added seven kills, while Rachel Clark contributed four kills on seven attacks without an error. Lyndsay Reid paced the offense with 29 assists and also recorded two aces and seven digs.

The match also marked a career milestone for Reid, who eclipsed 2,000 career assists.

Mount Olive held Barton to a .128 hitting percentage while collecting 41 digs and seven total blocks defensively.
The Trojans return to action with their next scheduled contest as they continue Conference Carolinas play hosting Shorter on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Kornegay Arena.
