WILSON – The University of Mount Olive Men's Lacrosse team fought hard against conference rival Barton Saturday losing 18-14 moving 1-4 in the season.
Mount olive had a slow start only scoring five goals in the first two quarters, goals being from
Charles Gott,
Benjamin Vanderkley,
Tyler Michael,
Mikey Stavrianakis, and
Joshua Dewart. Barton was able to score 11 to keep them in the lead. UMO was able to respond in the last two quarters scoring nine, never being able to take the lead.
Vanderkley and
Brayden Rieger were able to get hat tricks, Vanderkley assisting two goals and Rieger snatching four ground balls. The other six goal scores were Michael and Dewart with two goals,
David Androes, Gott, Stavrianakis, and
Julian Amick all had one. Faceoff specialist Nicholas Logue had 11 ground balls while teammate
Bryce Ailiff had seven.
Goalie
Kurtis Lensing had a whopping 15 saves on 33 shots on goal for a Save percentage of 455. The Trojans finished the game with 51 shots (27 on goal) 40 ground balls, going 25-37 in faceoffs.
