14-4 Home Field Win Against the Lions of Young Harris

MOUNT OLIVE – The University of Mount Olive men's lacrosse team takes down conference opponent Young Harris on a 14-4 win at home. The Trojans finally played at home after being on the road since Feb. 14, showing home-field advantage against the Lions.

The first quarter was tight with the Lions starting the scoring, until Trojan Benjamin Vanderkley scored back-to-back goals, as well as teammate Trent Steele.

Scoring opportunities peaked for UMO in the second quarter, where the team was able to produce seven of the 14 goals. More back-to-back goals scored by Brayden Rieger and Vanderkley. Charles Gott had two goals, while Micaiah Boyle and Andrew Yozzo both scored as well.

The second half was slow for scoring, with Mount Olive only having three goals. At this point, the game was already taken by the Trojans, with a total of 43 shots and 28 of them being on goal. The Trojans snatched up 46 ground balls and won 14 face-offs between Nicholas Lougue, Bryce Ailiff, and Tyler Shuler.

The Trojans will return to play in Murfreesboro, N.C. Wednesday, Mar. 18th, to play the Chowan Hawks under the lights at 7:00 p.m.
