Trojans Earn Third Conference Win of the Season Against Lees-McRae

BANNER ELK – The University of Mount Olive women's lacrosse team brought the winning energy with a commanding 22-2 win over conference opponent Lees-McRae on the road Sunday afternoon.

The Trojans proved who they were very early with a total of 16 goals in the first two quarters combined, leading to a shooting difference of 36-7 controlling possession throughout. Mount Olive owned the game by winning 18 of the 26 draw controls, causing 13 turnovers, and recording 15 ground balls.

Alexa Fitzgerald and Katie Broom had standout games dishing out five goals each. Both recorded assists, with Broom totaling three while Fitzgerald had one.

Ava Mullen totaled six points on four goals and two assists. Karsyn Elliott, Leah Muscatello, and Libby Berg each scored twice with Morghan Pollock and Jazna Dumont added one each to showcase their eight different goal scores.

In goal, the Trojans brought out Molly Pulliam, Ruby Burandt, and Karrisa Doerr who combined for two saves on only two goals allowed.

From the first whistle, UMO shaped how the game would end and delivered heat and showing what kind of team they are in the conference with a 3-0 conference record.

The Trojans will return home in 11 days for a non-conference game against Georgian Court Friday, Mar. 13 at 1 p.m.
