Kirby and McLamb Spark Bench-Led Upset as Mount Olive Downs Young Harris

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. - The University of Mount Olive men's basketball team leaned on its bench in a big way Monday night, as strong performances from Matt Kirby and Jefferson McLamb powered the Trojans to an 84–80 road upset of Young Harris College at The Harp Recreation & Commencement Center.

Coming off the bench, Kirby delivered a poised and efficient performance, leading all scorers with 19 points while shooting 4-of-7 from the field and a perfect 10-for-10 from the free-throw line. The guard also added seven assists, controlling the tempo and making key plays down the stretch as Mount Olive closed out the win.

McLamb provided a spark from the perimeter, scoring 18 points and knocking down four three-pointers, including several timely shots that halted Young Harris runs. His scoring punch helped Mount Olive maintain momentum throughout the game and keep the
Trojans in front during critical moments.

Mount Olive's bench proved to be the difference, accounting for 45 points and outscoring Young Harris' reserves 45–9. The Trojans used that depth to withstand multiple second-half pushes and maintain composure in a tightly contested contest.

The Trojans built a 44–38 lead at halftime and continued to answer in the second half, finishing the game by converting clutch free throws and securing defensive rebounds. Mount Olive finished the afternoon shooting 90.3 percent from the line, connecting on 28-of-31 attempts.

Mount Olive travels to Ferrum, Va. to face the Panthers in the regular season finale on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
