Trojans Honor Seniors, Battle King in Competitive 90–77 Decision

MOUNT OLIVE — The Mount Olive Trojans men's basketball team celebrated Senior Day on Saturday afternoon inside Kornegay Arena, recognizing four graduating student-athletes before falling 90–77 to King University in Conference Carolinas play.

Mount Olive and King traded momentum throughout a tightly contested first half, with the Trojans answering multiple early runs to stay within striking distance. UMO trailed just 43–41 at the break, fueled by timely scoring from its senior leaders and a strong presence on the offensive glass. King, however, used efficient shooting and transition baskets in the second half to create separation and secure the road win.

Senior Shawn Wilson paced the Trojans with 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists, attacking the rim and sparking several first-half surges. Fellow senior Shane Peterson added 13 points, including a pair of three-pointers and a perfect 7-for-7 performance at the free-throw line.

Redford Dunton
delivered 10 points and 4 rebounds, providing early energy and second-chance scoring, while Kobe Jones entered in the closing minutes to an ovation from the home crowd in his final regular-season appearance at Kornegay Arena.

Mount Olive finished with
43 total rebounds, including 20 offensive boards, and produced 19 second-chance points while receiving 20 points from the bench. Despite the Trojans' effort on the glass,

King countered with 55.6 percent shooting from the field and a 54–30 advantage in points in the paint.

The Trojans hit the road for their next matchup against Young Harris on Monday for a 5 p.m. tipoff start.
