Trojans’ Three-Quarter Fight Falls Short in Road Loss at UNC Pembroke

PEMBROKE - The University of Mount Olive women's basketball team put together a determined effort on the road but ultimately fell 64–48 to UNC Pembroke on Tuesday evening at the English E. Jones Center.

The Trojans showed resilience throughout the opening three quarters, weathering an early surge and steadily chipping away at the deficit. Mount Olive found its rhythm in the third quarter, outscoring the Braves 14–6 in the period and pulling within striking distance.

After three quarters, Mount Olive remained within striking distance at 40–37 in a hard-fought contest. The Trojans' relentless defensive pressure dictated the third quarter, limiting the Braves to 18.8 percent shooting from the field and zero made three-pointers..

However, the game shifted in the fourth quarter as UNC Pembroke caught fire offensively, using a strong shooting stretch and defensive pressure to create separation down the stretch. Despite continued effort on both ends of the floor, Mount Olive was unable to regain momentum as the Braves closed the game on a decisive run.

Savannah McAfee led the Trojans with a team-high 15 points, while Jayla Hicks added 14 points and seven rebounds in the effort. Jerin Truesdale anchored the paint with 10 rebounds as Mount Olive fought until the final horn.
