Trojans Unable to Capitalize After Holding USC Aiken Scoreless for Over a Hour

MOUNT OLIVE - The Mount Olive women's soccer team's great night overall was not enough in 1-0 loss to USC Aiken at home Saturday evening.

Goalkeeper Anais Coyne played a full 90 minutes for the Trojans, collecting three saves, whilst allowing only one goal. After the Pacers scored at the 1:39 minute mark, Coyne tallied three saves and together the Trojans kept the scoreless.

The Trojans outshot the Pacers, holding them to only six shots total, with four being on goal. USC Aiken had one shot in the first half. The Pacers only secured three corners as well, with two being in garbage time at the end of the game in back-to-back possessions.

UMO totaled six shots on goal: Charlotte Benson and Ana Caldentey each collected two shots on goal, with Tassia Ferreira and Malia Acevedo adding two each.

Acevedo led the team in shots, totaling six by herself. The next Trojans even near were Benson and Caldentey with three. Six saves by Pacers' goalkeeper, Savannah Yerger, doused the Trojans fire on offense, keeping UMO at bay in the loss.

Mount Olive opens conference play Wednesday in their 4 p.m. matchup against Francis Marion at home.
