Women's Soccer ranked 7th in preseason poll

GREENVILLE, N.C. (Aug. 26) – Following an appearance in the Conference Carolinas Tournament, the University of Mount Olive women's soccer program was slotted seventh in the league's preseason poll, released Monday.

Mount Olive posted a 7-5-5 overall record in 2024, going 5-4-3 in conference play. The Trojans bring in 19 upperclassmen and welcome seven freshmen to the 2025 roster. Head Coach Glad Bugariu enters his third year at the helm for UMO, alongside second-year assistant Tony Stoyanov.

Senior Addison Dangler returns after posting six points on two goals and two assists in twelve games.  Ranking sixth on the team in total points, Addison looks forward to cap off her time as a Trojan with success.

Defender Charlotte Benson also returns after coming off a very dominant defensive season in 2024, logging 1,158 minutes played across 15 games.

Newcomer Anais Coyne, a transfer from LSU-E, comes to the Trojans as a goalkeeper.  The 5'5" goalkeeper is looking to make an impact between the goalposts.

Francis Marion tops the preseason polls after earning nine first place votes, followed by UNC Pembroke with two.  Lees-McRae, Belmont Abbey, and Young Harris College round out the top of the poll.

The first two rounds of the conference tournament will take place on campus sites at the higher seeds on Nov. 5 and 8. The Conference Carolinas semifinals and championship will be played on Nov. 14 and 16 at Bryan Park in Browns Summit, North Carolina.

The Trojans begin the 2025 season on Sunday, Sept. 7, against Bluefield State in non-conference action with kickoff set for 12 p.m.
