Bugariu earns UEFA A License this summer

MOUNT OLIVE (July 14) – University of Mount Olive head women's soccer coach Glad Bugariu recently secured his UEFA A License after successfully completing the course. He becomes the only head collegiate coach in the state of the North Carolina to receive this coaching license.

The UEFA A License gives participants a clear understanding of player and team development and coaching at the top amateur level. The course offers insight into technical policy, as well as dealing with external factors affecting a team's performance and being accountable to a club's management.

"I am a big believer in coaching education and have always made it a priority to be the best coach I can be for the players I am working with", expressed Bugariu. "The game is constantly changing and going through the 1.5 years it took to successfully complete the practical and theoretical assignments has not only reinforced some of the things we are doing but also gives you a new perspective to make some changes in our methods."

The UEFA A License requires a total minimum 180 hours of education. A minimum 140 hours will be spent studying guided interactive content, with a minimum 40 hours made up of work experience in a club environment. The course is delivered approximately 50/50 between on-and-off-pitch activities and covers the four pillars of the license (coach, player/team, training environment, and match).

The license allows a coach to work at the highest level of women's soccer around the world and in the second division in any European country at the men's level. Bugariu is one of a few coaches in the country to hold both the U.S. Soccer A and UEFA A Licenses.
