MOUNT OLIVE (May 9) – The University of Mount Olive men's track & field program registered two Conference Carolinas and school records while competing at the Mount Olive First Chance and Final Qualifier at Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex.
At the First Chance meet on Thursday, the 4x100-meter relay team of senior
Christopher Kirksey, junior
Jason Hart, freshman
Jacoby Pevia, and junior
Jamavie Glover established a new school record and reached an NCAA mark with a time of 40.54 seconds.
In the javelin, graduate student
Holden Gerth produced an event victory with a toss of 61.90 meters, which hit the NCAA Standard.
At the Final Qualifier on Friday, sophomore
Sigursteinn Asgeirsson delivered a new Conference Carolinas and Mount Olive record in the shot put with a distance of 17.35 meters, which ranks 25th in NCAA Division II. Additionally, senior
Nicholas Cloud recorded a personal-best mark of 16.18 meters, placing second overall.
In the hammer throw, graduate student
Dominic Nutter established a new Conference Carolinas and school record with a toss of 64.07 meters, which also reached the NCAA mark. Following his performance, he ranks fifth in NCAA Division II in the event.
