GREENVILLE, S.C. (March 5) – After collecting third victories over the weekend, University of Mount Olive sophomore
Lara Stamereilers was selected the Conference Carolinas Player of the Week by the league office on Tuesday.
Stamereilers produced a 2-0 record in the first singles while going 1-1 in doubles, as the Trojans went 1-1 overall in a pair of non-conference matches over the weekend. On Saturday, she rebounded off her doubles loss in the third slot to defeat Jade Bellegy of Coker in straight sets 6-2, 6-4 in the first singles.
The following day, UMO picked up its first win of the season by a 5-2 margin over West Virginia Wesleyan while Stamereilers secured two victories. Alongside sophomore
Victoria Calle, the duo prodcued dominant 6-0 win over Sundaraneddi and Banda in the second position. In singles competition, she rallied to a 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 win versus Jansen in the first slot.
The Trojans return to the court on Thursday, March 6, for another non-conference match welcoming North Carolina Central at the John Neal Walker Tennis Center at 3 p.m.
