MONROE, N.C. (March 11) – In its first tournament in nearly a month, the University of Mount Olive women's golf program placed 13th overall at the Jerry Surratt Memorial Intercollegiate on Tuesday, hosted by Wingate.
The Trojans posted a 13th-place finish in the team standings after shooting 75-over 939 (313-310-316) in a field featuring 10 nationally ranked opponents. The host No. 2 Bulldogs captured the event title by one stroke with a final score of 12-over 876 (301-288-287) with a trio of individuals in the top-six overall. No. 1 Anderson finished one stroke back at 13-over 877 (300-293-285) to place second, while No. 10 ranked Lee finished third overall with a score of 26-over 890 (300-294-296).
Sophomore
Lucie Levet led Mount Olive after tying for 50th overall with a 20-over 236 (78-78-80) with four birdies and 28 pars over three rounds at the Stonebridge Golf Club. Senior
Victoria Morelli carded a score of 22-over 238 (86-76-76) to tie for 59th behind five birdies and a team-leading 29 pars. Sophomore
Valentina Agostino also tied for 59th overall after shooting a 22-over 238 (77-81-80) while converting five birdies and 25 pars.
Junior
Violette Daudin tied for 65th on the individual leaderboard with a final score of 23-over 239 (80-79-80) behind three birdies and 26 pars. Fellow junior
Aoi Ito carded a 24-over 240 (78-77-85) to tie for 68th with five birdies and 24 pars.
Wingate freshman Amely Bochaton secured the individual title by seven strokes after firing a seven-under 209 (71-70-68) with 13 birdies.
The Trojans will return to action next week on March 17-18 at the Oldfield Intercollegiate in Okatie, South Carolina.
