Ferrum Survives Mount Olive Barrage on Senior Day

MOUNT OLIVE Despite dominating offensively, the University of Mount Olive women's soccer team fell 1-0 to Ferrum College on Senior Day Saturday afternoon in the regular-season finale.

UMO celebrated six seniors before kickoff: Josephine Palmer, Natalia Kaminski, Tassia Ferreira, Mia Dixie, Caroline Hales, and Addison Dangler.

The Trojans unleashed one of their most aggressive attacks of the season, firing 30 shots — the second-most this year. Nine players recorded multiple attempts, led by Charlotte Benson, Addison Dangler, and Malia Acevedo with five each. Ana Caldentey added four shots, while Kaminski, Hales, Alaina Steding, Tanya Granholm, and Isabella Lugo each posted two.

Mount Olive also earned 11 corner kicks and controlled possession for much of the match but couldn't find the back of the net. Defensively, UMO was sharp early, holding Ferrum without a corner and allowing just two shots in the opening half.

The Panthers broke through in the 54th minute with the eventual game-winner. Despite 14 shots following the goal, the Trojans couldn't equalize.

Goalkeeper Anais Coyne played all 90 minutes, making three saves and conceding one goal.

Mount Olive now turns its focus to the 2025 Conference Carolinas Women's Soccer Championship, opening the first round on the road Nov. 5.
