GREENWOOD, S.C. (May 23) – University of Mount Olive redshirt senior Erik Johnson earned another postseason accolade after being named to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-Southeast Region Team as a starting pitcher, as announced by the organization on Thursday afternoon.
Johnson was voted D2CAA Second-Team All-Region as a pitcher after receiving a similar honor from the NCBWA last week. Johnson boasted a 7-3 mark on the mound with a 3.35 ERA behind 91 strikeouts and 18 walks in 83.1 innings pitched. He ranked fifth in NCAA Division II with five complete-game performances while sitting third in the Conference Carolinas with a 5.06 strikeout-to-walk ratio and a 1.09 WHIP. Johnson held opponents to a .232 batting average and ranked fifth in the conference in ERA, strikeouts, hits allowed per nine innings (7.88), and strikeouts per nine innings (9.83).
Sports Information Directors from Southeast Region schools and conferences selected the two all-regions teams. The teams are sponsored by D2CCA, which encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of high education.
